I have long been a fan of the more intellectual kinds of speculative fiction, from H. G. Wells to the present, including Brian Aldiss, Ursula K. Le Guin, John Crowley, M. John Harrison, William Gibson, Bruce Sterling, Kim Stanley Robinson, China Mieville, Kenneth MacLeod, Alastair Reynolds, and Charles Stross, as well as authors considered "mainstream", such as Poe, Borges, Margaret Atwood, and Neil Stephenson. |

I don't spend all my time reading books, as I am fond of walking, hiking, fishing, and thrift stores and antique shops, which I also frequent to avoid contributing to the new consumer product waste stream. I don't own a car and I am a serious user of public transportation and a fan of its possible improvements. I prefer urban regions with history over new, pedestrian-unfriendly suburban developments. |
